Leather cord is enjoying a new popularity for jewelry, especially when mixed with beads and nylon cords. Great primitive and modern designs include leather cord or thong as well as braided leather cord. Leather is a natural product so variation in color and quality can be expected. Personal Note - I have been using 2mm to 5mm round and braided leather cord to make simple cording for pendants and amulets or for bracelets featuring interesting findings. With the 1.5mm and 2mm round cords, I have been mostly playing around with leather wrap bracelets.

Greek Leather vs C-Lon Bead Thread Size D (CLBD) and C-Lon Bead Thread Size AA (CLBAA) Colors Many colors with identical names match. Natural matches CLBD-Light Brown. Light Purple is between CLBD-Purple & CLBD-Lavender (CLBD-Orchid is a bit too pink). Dark Purple is amost black and can be matched with either CLBD-Black or the light CLDB-Purple. Teal Blue is in between CLBD Teal & Turquoise. For the greys, Dark Gray is darker than the CLBD-Grey, and the Chinese Light Grey is lighter. Miyuki Beading Thread Smoke is the best match for Dark Grey. Metallic Bronze, the newest color, just added as on October 2023, has a rich, yet subtle metallic sheen and CLBD-Light Brown is a perfect match.

CHINESE LEATHER

Made in China. Smooth, even, and strong. The coated colors are comparable to the Greek leather but with more sheen. The Antique Metallic Gold and Silver are without comparison. Natural is a bit darker than the Natural Greek leather. Distressed Brown and Red are dyed leather with a natural feel.
