Rayon Satin cord is a shimmery cord that reflect lights. It is soft and slippery to touch. It is a woven cord with a center core. Originally it was made of silk, then made with rayon over a cotton center. It can be used as a cord for necklaces, for stringing beads with large holes and for Chinese ornamental knotting or as a center core for hand braids, beaded kumihimo, or bead crochet tubular ropes. When used as a center core, it can be used singly or in multiples. This cord is known for its beautiful sheen and deep saturated As it is made out of rayon and cotton, the ends cannot be melted.
Personal Note - I have used satin cords for many years as core or center for hand braids and for beaded kumihimo. For thicker braids, I often use multiple cords as it gives me the option to pull one of the cords out when the braid is finished if I find the result a bit stiff.
